Privacy and cookies policy

LRS Offroad are committed to protecting your privacy and maintaining the security of any personal information received from you. We strictly adhere to the requirements of the data protection legislation in the UK.  The purpose of this statement is to explain to you what personal information we collect and how we may use it.

Where did we obtain your personal data?

    • Prospective customers and purchasing customers can create an account on our website providing personal data
    • When a customer makes a purchase, we use the personal account data for delivery and invoicing purposes.
  • Newsletter opt-in
    • If you subscribe to our newsletter when you create an account on our website or social media, you give us permission to use your forename, surname, email address to contact you via email or text regarding new offers and latest news.
  • Email
    • If you send us an email, the email will contain name, email address along with a time stamp and any other information that you choose to share with us.
    • It is your responsibility to make sure that your email and attachments are virus free and sent from a reputable provider.
  • Telephone
    • Purchasing customers share their personal details via the telephone when placing an order for delivery and invoicing purposes.

    • Personal data, such as your name, user name, postal address, email address, phone number, date of birth, gender, country of residence and any other information about you that you might choose to volunteer, when you:
    • Submit comments or feedback for publication on our social media pages.

Retaining and deleting personal data

      • Records will be kept for 6 years to comply with the HMRC tax reporting and record keeping obligations

      • Personal data will be retained for a maximum period 1 year for non-purchasing customer or enquiries.
      • The period of retention of personal data that cannot be specified will be determined based on if the customers account is clear and no money is owed to us

  • Our website includes hyperlinks to, and details of, third party websites e.g. Facebook, Instagram, Twitter
  • We have no control over, and are not responsible for, the privacy policies and practices of third parties.

  • Our website and services are targeted at persons over the age of 18.
  • If we have reason to believe that we hold personal data of a person under that age in our databases, we will delete that personal data

Updating information

  • Please let us know if the personal information that we hold about you needs to be corrected or updated

Use of Cookies

  • Cookies are small text files that may be stored on your computer or mobile device when you visit our website. Snippets of text information is used to gather information on the user of the site for various purposes, most people think of them being used for advertising, however most are used to make the shopping cart work!  (1st Party)
    • The use of '1st party cookies' on our website is limited and are only there to enable the shopping cart to operate, navigate between pages and recognise you as a potential shopper and what is or has been in your basket. these are as follows:
      • PHPSESSID - Contains a PHP "session ID", expires when the browser is closed
        • The "PHPSESSID" cookie is required so that the site can recognise the same user clicking from page to page. Without it, every page would be treated as the first visit to the site, and anything added to the shopping basket would be instantly forgotten. Online shopping would, therefore, be impossible
      • Session - Contains a PHP "session ID", can also contain an email address and encrypted password, expires after one year
        • The "session" cookie is intended for the user's convenience, the site creates this with a copy of the initial session ID so that they can be classed as "returning" and the contents of their shopping basket will still be available. If the user signs in with an email address and password, these login details are are also saved so that they can remain logged in when returning (the password is encrypted). If the user signs out, their login details are removed from the cookie.
    • 3rd party cookies - these are created outside of our control, again to track movement from one site to another - such as Facebook or twitter - without these people cannot like or unlike products amongst other things.
      • We use Google Analytics, which enable us to see what pages you use so we can make the site more useful for the visitor. these are also 3rd party cookies.
      • 3rd party cookies can be limited and controlled through your own browser settings
